Shiny, Cursed & Demonic Mutations

Mutation guide for Be The Final Boss Update 1. Shiny, Cursed, and Demonic variants, stat boosts up to ~150%, Cursed Moon weather, and summoning strategy.

What Are Mutations?

Update 1 introduced mutation lines for minions — Shiny, Cursed, and Demonic variants that apply visual and stat modifiers to recruited units. Top-tier mutation rolls can push stat boosts toward roughly 150% of base values on strong units, though exact numbers vary by unit and roll quality. Mutations alter how a minion performs in your formation, similar to shiny systems in other Roblox defense games. The Unit Index UI added in the same patch helps track which units and mutations you have collected.

Mutations interact with Souls spending and Luck nodes on the skill tree. Higher Summon Luck improves odds of rolling desirable variants when recruiting. bossman3000 code includes a Luck Booster; cantkilldaboss includes a Soul Booster — use both during active summoning sessions documented in the minions guide.

Shiny, Cursed, and Demonic Lines

Every mutation rolls at the Summon Altar when you spend Souls on a new minion. Bonuses apply to Attack and Health only — abilities, attack range, and role behavior stay the same as the base unit. Each line shows a label above the unit's head and prefixes the name (for example, "Shiny Lava Imp").

Community testing in Update 1 confirms fixed percentage boosts per line. Demonic is the rarest and strongest; Shiny is the most common entry variant. Check the Unit Index after each roll and update our tier list when a mutated variant outperforms its base form on your current wave.

  • Shiny: +30% Attack and Health — entry mutation line
  • Cursed: +100% Attack and Health — mid-tier, roughly doubles core stats
  • Demonic: +150% Attack and Health — top Update 1 line, strongest rolls

Mutation Economics (Cost / Stats / Upgrade)

Beyond flat Attack and Health bonuses, each mutation line multiplies Fusion Shard costs, effective stats, and upgrade costs. Community testing in July 2026 converges on these ratios — use them when planning long-term Demonic investment on the Demonic duo path.

Prefer Demonic for long-term Fusion Shard sinks on units you keep through endgame. Low-rarity Cursed is acceptable short-term on replaceable flex units. Deathlock is the main exception — S-tier support without any mutation investment.

  • Normal: 100% cost / 100% stats / 100% upgrade cost
  • Shiny: 300% cost / 130% stats / 200% upgrade cost
  • Cursed: 1000% cost / 200% stats / 400% upgrade cost
  • Demonic: 1500% cost / 250% stats / 600% upgrade cost

Double Mutation Chance (Free and Paid)

Cursed Moon weather doubles your total mutation chance for five minutes each cycle — the best free window to burn saved Souls. The Double Mutation Chance gamepass (159 Robux from the in-game Shop) applies the same 2× multiplier permanently on every summon, regardless of weather.

Free-to-play players should hoard Souls for Cursed Moon and stack Luck Boosters from codes like bossman3000. Paying players get consistent odds without waiting for the weather timer. Neither method guarantees Demonic — they only improve odds across all three lines.

Cursed Moon Weather

Cursed Moon weather doubles your total summon mutation chance for five minutes each cycle — not increased castle risk. When the bottom-right timer shows Cursed Moon active, burn saved Souls on recruitment if you are past your next wave checkpoint. Stack with Luck Boosters and Summon Luck skill nodes for the best rolling window in Early Access.

Cursed Moon does not guarantee Demonic outcomes. It only improves odds across Shiny, Cursed, and Demonic tables. Read the full weather events page for cycle timing alongside Gold Rush and Shard Storm.

Mutation Strategy

Do not chase mutation rolls before your formation survives the next wave checkpoint. A stable Bloody Gargoyle frontline with Shiny Lava Imp backline matters more than a low-tier unit with a flashy mutation. Invest in Summon Luck and use Boosters only when you have Souls to burn on repeated rolls.

Fusion Shards from the cauldron may eventually interact with mutated gear — verify in-game after patches if fusion recipes reference mutation tiers.

Unit Index Tracking

The Unit Index catalogs discovered minions and variants across Shiny, Cursed, and Demonic lines. Use it to identify missing entries and plan targeted summoning sessions during Cursed Moon or high-Luck windows. Collection completion may tie to future milestone rewards as the game matures beyond Update 1.

Frequently Asked Questions

When were mutations added?

Update 1 ([UPD1]) with Shiny, Cursed, and Demonic lines plus the Unit Index.

How much do mutations boost stats?

Shiny 130% stats, Cursed 200% stats, Demonic 250% stats (cost/upgrade multipliers on the mutations page). Only Attack and Health change.

Is there a permanent way to boost mutation odds?

Yes. The Double Mutation Chance gamepass (159 Robux) gives permanent 2× odds, same as Cursed Moon weather.

Are mutated units always better?

Not guaranteed. Base unit role and placement still determine wave clear success.
